How to play game online (sky3ds+ private header guide)

Nowdays, many sky3ds+(orange button)users want to enjoy more fun of playing online games, but how can we make it work?  After you finish reading this article, try to manipulate by yourself,  so here is the tutorial.

Preparation:
1.The 3DS  console version must below 9.2
2. one GATEWAY 3DS/MT-CARD
3. Gateway3DSHelper.zip (you can download here http://filetrip.net/dl?vgu6DyDtXH)
4. one 3DS genuine gamecard(Monster Hunter X,  here use this ROM for example)

The Instruction:

1. Enter into the gateway 3ds’s menu, pull the gateway red card out and insert the 3DS genuine gamecard,  choose the “BACKUP 3DS GAME CARITRIDEGE” on this menu,  press the “start”, and you will get the *.3DS file in the end which created in your micro SD card.

2. Put the SD card into card reader, and connect card reader to PC. To start up “Gateway3DSHelper.zip”.( Run this tool needs “.NET Framework 4.0 “first, if you don’t have it in your PC, pls download here http://www.microsoft.com/zh-cn/download/details.aspx?id=17718)

①:automatically recognize ROM.
②:if the game can’t be recognized, then select ② to load game
③:The place where can change the name of ROM

3.Double-click ①, you can see the  private header information of this ROM (it is 32-bit)
you have already extracted the private header  in this step.
If you need the public header , click ⑤, then select” ⑥import” so that you will get the  public header!
(note: There will be a high risk of being banned if you use a public header, so really not recommend)

4. Start MHX ROM, open the settings.txt from your SD card,  add the line “CREATE_PER_GAME_SETTINGS=1″(default 0, can change it anytime later) and save it , restart the game. then change the “CREATE_PER_GAME_SETTINGS=1” back to
CREATE_PER_GAME_SETTINGS=0，and open the .cfg file in the end.
pls add the private header information in step 3 to the .CFG file of this rom

*add to the end of “GAMESAVE_KEY=” in red underline

5. Finally, Save the . CFG file, and restart the Rom,  turn on the wifi, you can enjoy playing the game online!

Sky3DS updated template file [01/09/2016]

Sk3ds offical team updated its former template file today. The sky3ds uses the template file to match the game ID. If your game is not in the template.txt, you can’t flash it to the micro sd card.

So If you want to play these latest 3ds games, you have to  download this rar file which included a updated “template.txt”, and overwrite the exits of “DiskWiter” directory. The most important thing is to make sure that you put this two files together in the one directory, then you can download these 3ds roms into the sd/sdhc card for sky3ds. For some sky3ds new users who don’t know how to do it, you can see my second post about the tutorial of  blue sky3ds card.

How to update sky3ds template file？

Choose “Options”-> “ Change Template”
Choose the newest template file, and click open to start.

The FAQ of the new sky3ds+ card

The new sky3ds plus card(orange button)  has been released for a time, some users are ready to buy this new card, but still have doubt on the real functions and changes of  this  flashcard,   so i summarized the FAQ of the sky3ds plus card, you can read this article first and consider whether the sky3ds+ card meets your needs before buying.

1. Does Sky3ds+ run the latest 3DS Games such as Monster Hunter X, Fire Emblem If and so on?
Yes, Sky3ds+ solves the AP Check problem of new 3ds games, you can play these games with Sky3ds+.

2. Can I use the save files from my blue button sky3DS card with the new orange button sky3ds+ card?
 Yes you can download the DiskWriter V2.03b4 tool, to click “backup save2” on menu to convert the saved data for sky3DS+.

3.How can i play the out of region games on a sky3DS+ card directly?
Sorry, you can’t play the out of region roms directly, but you can use the tool NINJHAX  to achieve this functionality.

4.I just purchased the latest version of Sky3ds+. wonder if you have the instruction to edit the private header for the online game play?
 Open the file settings.txt, add in the line “CREATE_PER_GAME_SETTINGS=1” and save it, once got the
file “xxxxx.CFG” for that online game built in your microSD card, open it and replace the value of the “GAMESAVE_KEY” with your private header info(Unique_ID), save it and enjoy your online play without ban risk!

5.How can i install a game like Monster Hunter 4 or Xenoblades to my MicroSD card? Since the file format of the MicroSD should be in FAT32 it won’t allow these big files to be transfered to it.
For those large size roms (4GB), you can use the 3rd party tool(like: 3dsexplorer  http://filetrip.net/dl?54MsKVMgo4) to trim it to the small size, sky3DS+ works fine with the trimmed rom! we will fix it in coming new firmware update anyway. 6.Just want to know if there will still be updates for the old blue button sky3DS template file.
We are still working on a AP checks solution for the old cards, and will keep the template updated as well.

7. Where is the file firmware.bin? I can’t find in the download page.
The newest firmware V100 comes with your sky3DS+ card, no update needed at the moment.

8. I have been trying all day to get 64Gb micorSD cards to work, had issues formatting 64GB micorSD card to FAT32, please help!

9. I have a new 3ds and 2ds with the firmware 10.3.0-28 version. the sky3ds+ can work on this version or not?
Yes, Sky3DS+ plus card can support the newest 3DS/NEW 3DS/2DS V10.3.0-28U/E/J directly. It is fully compatible with 2DS, 3DS, 3DS XL, NEW 3DS and NEW 3DS XL consoles as the blue sky3ds card.

10. Does Sky3ds+ support play 3ds game online and local multi player?
Yes, Sky3DS+  can play 3DS game online as a genuine gamepad did(a private header needed) and support local multi player too.

11. Do we have to write 3ds roms with diskWrtier tool with Sky3ds+?
No,  the new sky3ds+ card no longer need to use diskWrtier tool. We can copy and paste 3ds roms directly into the root of micro sd card.

12. Is Sky3ds+ compatible with the .cia game format and eShop games?
No, on this point sky3ds+ is the same as blue sky3ds card, we can’t play .cia or eshop 3ds games, the sky3ds+ card can only play .3ds format games.

13. is there any ban risk when use Sky3ds+ play online or use online shop or online surfing with my 3ds xl console?
As the blue sky3ds card, you should use private game header to play online games. For other online things, sky3ds+ will support like the real game card. Don’t worry.

14. How many 3DS Games can we play Sky3ds+ card?
The new sky3ds+ card have no game limitation.

15. Is this new Sky3ds plus card more worthy to buy than other 3ds cards?

Sky3ds+ card supports Region free with Ninjhax 2.5

Sky3ds+ has region locking limit,  it can only  play games in a certain region, but now we have found a way to solve this issue, i  believe so many users are very excited with this new breakthrough.

ninjhax 2.5 is a piece of software that allows you to run unsigned code on your 3DS. In fact, this means being able to run homebrew applications such as games, tools and emulators. what’s more, ninjhax 2.5 allows you to run many out-of-region gamecards, as well as use custom themes on your console. What’s pretty awesome is that this runs on firmware version 9.0-10.3.

It again can utilize Cubic Ninja. below is the tutorial of Ninjhax 2.5:

1. download “homebrew starter kit” from this website https://smealum.github.io/ninjhax2/starter.zip

2. Extract the “starter zip” file , copy the three contents (including “3ds”, “themes”.”boot.3dsx”)  into your 3ds console TF card , and put the TF card back into your 3ds console.

3. Copy the Cubic Ninja ROM and the .3ds format game  which you want to play with region free into the root of your Sky3ds+ micro sd card, insert Sky3ds+ card into your 3ds console. *i choose the Mario game( Euro) as an example.

4.Turn on the wifi of your 3ds console, make sure it connected to the internet.

5.Check your 3ds console version and go to Ninjhax website  http://smealum.github.io/ninjhax2/ to get the newest QR Code for
your 3ds console, then select the correct information for your 3ds console, and click “Update QR Code”

6.Click the Cubic Ninja icon, choose edit ->QR code, then Go to the option “Read QR Code” and scan the newest QR Code which you got in last step, this step might take you several times. When you scanned successfuly, the screen will remind you yes or no to install the exploit to your savegame? Just press button A to confirm.

7.When installed the Ninjhax 2.5,  you are in the Homebrew menu, just click the option of  Region free launcher, see this interface as below, just click button A to continue.

8. you will see the Cubic Ninja game first,  then pull your sky3ds+ card out and put it in again, now you can press the Sky3ds+ orange button in order switching to the .3ds game that you need to play with region free, you will see that game icon occurs in the screen as below.

9.Click button A to run this .3ds game and enjoy it!

note： if u want to back to the home menu，pls don’t press home button directly，u need to press power button first，then press the home button. it can be faster in this way.

The blue sky3ds card

The blue sky3ds card is the first version Sky3ds card,  it has been produced and sold for a long time, and It with more stable and mature technology.  The last point is that Sky3ds blue button is much cheaper. although it can’t support new 3ds games with AP checks, it can be used to play hundreds of 3DS Games, so  if you don’t have interest in new 3ds games, this  card is totally enough for you. 1. Please download the newest  “DiskWriter” and “template”  to your PC from official site, and extract these two files, then drop them in one folder,  remeber to rename the file “template”.  eg:if the downloaded file is “template1203”, you need to remove the number of its name.

2. Run the “DiskWriterV2.03b4.exe” app as an administrator role.
*Notice: Confirm your PC with WINDOWS 7/8 OS, so you have to install the “Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0+” first if your computer doesn’t have it, which for running the diskwriter tool.

3.3. Insert a Microsd card with an USB adapter into your PC(WIN7/8 OS) , and the option will appear “..USB Device (\\.\PHYSICALDRIVE1)”, select it and then click the button “Go!”

4. There will be a warning “The selected drive is not currently formatted for this application”. Just click “Yes” to go on;

5.  “DiskWriterV2.03b4” is running normally should like below; Choose “File” ->”Format”;

6.Again, there is a important warning to inform you that ” Formatting the dirve will destory ALL information on it! Are you sure you wish to processed? ” , click “Yes” to confirm, then another warning inform you once again, click “Yes” ,

7. Click “OK” after format complete;

8. Choose “File”->”Write” and choose your favorite 3DS roms and then its will be written into your microSD card in a few minutes.

9. After writing completed , insert the microSD card with Sky3DS into 3DS console to enjoy it.

1. How to change game:
Press red / blue button, sky3ds will save EEPROM to microSD card, it will skip to next game, at the same time,will read this game save data with EEPROM to microSD card, then you can start to play.

2. Sky3ds first use:
Power on your 3ds console , hold to press red/blue button with finger, insert to 3DS Slot with your sky3ds , it will not display any game icon on screen. Pull out sky3ds and insert to 3DS again , the LED light will flashing fast, the game icon still doesn’t display. Again, pull out sky3ds and insert to 3DS, LED light flashing and turn off in few seconds, this means the first game save data has been read EEPROM normally from MicroSD card, you can play to enjoy it.

3. How to Restore single game save data from PC?
With your sky3ds on 3DS, switch to other game(not the game you need to restore save data), and pull out the microSD card , insert with adapter to connect with PC. Open Diskwrite tool to do single game “Restore Save”option from one of your“.sav”files, insert Sky3ds with microSD card into 3DS Slot, press red/blue button and cycle to the game(you need to restore save data one) and enjoy.

3. Restore all games save data:
Open Diskwriter tool to do “File”->“Restore Save data”, save file to PC , insert Sky3ds with microSD card into 3DS Slot. Then follow the step 2 did.

5. Initial SKY3DS:
Power on your 3ds console , hold to press red/blue button with finger, insert to 3DS Slot with your sky3ds , it will not display any game icon on screen. Pull out sky3ds and insert to 3DS again , the LED light will flashing fast, the game icon still doesn’t display. Again, pull out sky3ds and insert to 3DS, LED light flashing and turn off in few seconds, this means the first game save data has been read EEPROM normally from MicroSD card, you can play to enjoy it.

6. If you want to change to new MicroSD Card or delete game save data:
If you currently have game save data saved in SKY3DS, and you want to be change to another new MicroSD Card, you should press the red / blue button to switch to next game, the game save data will be saved from the EEPROM memory to the SD Card.

3. Copy the 3ds games (must be .3ds format) into the root of your microSD card,  no diskwriter tool required any more.

4. Insert Micro SD into Sky3ds+ Plus, and then connect Sky3ds+Plus to your PC by the USB cable.
*After that, you can see the red light of Sky3ds+Plus will turn on for 10 seconds, then green light of Sky3ds+Plus will be twinkling for 10 seconds, then the light off.  ( once the light turn off, it means the sky3DS+ has been updated successfully) You could delete the “firmware.bin” file after it has been installed, because it will install  itself automatically each time when you connect the Sky3ds+Plus to PC.

5. Insert the Sky3ds+Plus into 3DS console and enjoy the games.

6. A settings.txt file and other .sav files will be built in your microSD card once start to play games, open the settings.txt, add the line “the CREATE_PER_GAME_SETTINGS = 1″(default 0, can change it anytime later) and save it, a .CFG file will be created in your microSD card after a game has been played, it includes the specific info for that game(CART_ID,FLASH_ID…), you can build you own .CFG file for playing a new game(or an online game) later if you know how to get those info properly, which means you don’t have to wait for the updated gamelist.bin file by our site, the .CFG file has a higher priority than a gamelist.bin file.
